I am not a reality show junkie although I have to admit to watching the Voice but I am addicted to food related shows so a new show called the Taste was definitely going to draw me in. The premise is kind of like the Voice with blind taste tests by four culinary stars (Anthony Bourdain , Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre and Brian Malarkey) who then veto or accept the aspiring contestants. I am unapologetic about loving it so far.
I was also delighted to see a home cook, Lauren Scott, present a lovely rich dessert amidst the savory offerings by all the other cooks and chefs. She made what is one of my very favorite cakes, a flourless chocolate cake, which is perfect for a romantic Valentine's Day dessert adorned with simple decorations to be shared with your partner. This cake is lovely with a stenciled dusting of icing sugar or highlighted with a delectable ganache and simple rolled fondant roses. So try your hand at this lovely recipe and create your own cake design to highlight its richness and simplicity.
